Nominations invited for Sociology and Illness Book Prize

The BSA Society of Health and Illness is now inviting nominations for the 2011 ‘Book of the Year’ prize. The deadline for nominations is 31 March 2011.

The prize of £1,000 is awarded annually at the BSA Medical Sociology Group Annual Confere

nce to the author or editor of the book judged to have made the most significant contribution to medical sociology or sociology of health and illness. The book must have been published over the three years preceding 1 January of the year in which the award is made – that is January 2008 to December 2010 for the 2011 prize.

The nomination form and rules are available to download, along with a list of previous winners.

This year’s winner will be announced at the BSA Medical Sociology Annual Conference at the University of Chester, 14-16 September 2011.
