New JME Podcast: Stress, Performance, and Wellness

The Journal of Management Education (JME) has a new podcast highlighting the April 2012 Special Issue: Healthy, Wealthy and Wise? Educating Management Students about Stress, Performance and Wellness. JME Editor Jane Schmidt-Wilk interviews guest editors Kathi J. Lovelace and Jane D. Parent and foreword author William R. Stixrud, who share their thoughts about the special issue and their insights on this important topic.

Jane Schmidt-Wilk teaches courses in management and organizational behavior, qualitative research methods, communication skills, teaching, and academic writing. Dr. Schmidt-Wilk has been Editor of the Journal of Management Education (JME), the leading journal in this field, since July 2005, and serves on the editorial boards of several other academic journals in the field of management. Dr. Schmidt-Wilk is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors of the OBTS Teaching Society for Management Educators, a member of the Academy of Management and a member of the Midwest Academy of Management. She has made numerous presentations at these and other professional conferences.

Kathi J. Lovelace is an Assistant Professor of Management at Menlo College. Dr. Lovelace is a veteran teacher and her research interests include work stress, engagement and wellness; interdisciplinary pedagogy; and leadership development. She has been published in such journals as the Journal of Management Education, the Journal of the Academy of Business Education, Human Resource Management Review, the Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health, and the Journal of Managerial Psychology. Dr. Lovelace is a member of the Academy of Management and the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society and is on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Learning and Education journal.

Jane D. Parent is an assistant professor in the Department of Management at Merrimack College. Dr. Parent has several years of industry experience in the fields of cost analysis, marketing, and finance working for such companies as Grumman Aerospace (currently Northrop-Grumman), United Technologies, National Semiconductor, and Siemens, AG. She is the author of articles published in the Journal of Management, and Gender, Race, and Ethnicity in the Workplace. She is a member of the National Academy of Management and the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society. She is currently doing research in the area of adaptation to organization changes, perceptual incongruence between management and employees, and experiential learning initiatives in the classroom.

William R. Stixrud is a clinical neuropsychologist who has been in private practice since 1985. Dr. Stixrud is also a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the Children’s National Medical Center, and he holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the George Washington School of Medicine. For the past 20 years, Dr. Stixrud has been extensively involved in the training and supervision of psychologists and learning specialists. He is also a frequent lecturer on topics related to neuropsychological assessment, learning and executive disorders, brain development, brain-based learning, motivation, and the effects of stress and sleep deprivation on the brain.
