JME Podcast: Social Responsibility in Business Education

The Journal of Management Education (JME) has a new podcast highlighting the June 2012 Special Issue: Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME). The PRME, a global initiative coordinated by the United Nations, aims to enhance and extend corporate responsibility and sustainability in business education.  Click here to view the Table of Contents.

JME Editor Jane Schmidt-Wilk interviewed guest editors  Jeanie M. Forray and Jennifer S. A. Leigh, who are also incoming associate editors of JME. They discussed the background for the special issue, offering insights on what inspired and motivated them to publish on this important and innovative topic.

Jeanie M. Forray is Associate Professor and Chair of the Management Department in the College of Business at Western New England University where she also serves as coordinator for the Sophomore Experience Abroad and Global Scholars programs. She holds a PhD from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a certified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory®. Jeanie’s current research focuses on teaching methods used in PRME-related courses and on the development of intercultural competence among undergraduate students. Her work has been published in a variety of scholarly outlets including JME, Journal of Management Inquiry, Organization Management Journal, and Journal of International Business Education. She currently serves as an Associate Editor of JME and an editorial board member of the Academy of Management Education & Learning (AMLE) and Management Learning.

Jennifer S. A. Leigh is an associate professor of management at Nazareth College of Rochester. She received her PhD in organization studies from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and her MA in organizational systems renewal from Antioch University-Seattle. Her scholarship addresses management education, cross-sector partnerships and corporate social responsibility. Recently she co-edited with Jeanie Forray a special issue on PRME for the Journal of Management Education (June 2012). Jennifer is an editorial board member of the Academy of Management Education & Learning (AMLE) and an Associate Editor of JME.

Jane Schmidt-Wilk teaches courses in management and organizational behavior, qualitative research methods, communication skills, teaching, and academic writing. Dr. Schmidt-Wilk has been Editor of the Journal of Management Education, the leading journal in this field, since July 2005, and serves on the editorial boards of several other academic journals in the field of management. Dr. Schmidt-Wilk is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors of the OBTS Teaching Society for Management Educators, a member of the Academy of Management and a member of the Midwest Academy of Management. She has made numerous presentations at these and other professional conferences.
