Making the Case for the Social Sciences: Sport and Leisure coming in November
The fifth issue, on Sport and Leisure, will be launched as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science on 1st November at a high profile Whitehall event.
This issue has been prepared with help from Professor Jonathan Long AcSS of Leeds Metropolitan University, Professor David Kirk AcSS of the University of Bedfordshire, Dr Karl Spracklen and the Leisure Studies Association, plus Lisa Morrison Coulthard of the British Psychological Society. The BPS are sponsoring the issue. The Academy is very grateful for all this help.
Future Issues: Help required!
We are currently preparing issues – and seeking stories of social science work that has impacted society -on the following topics:
- Longitudinal data
- Social Care (especially children related work)
We would like to receive vignettes of social science research that has shown clear impact, on policy or practice, (around 300 words in non-technical language explaining what the pre-existing problem was, what the research team did, what they found and what difference it has made). Plase send stories to the series editor, Madeleine Barrows
Past issues can be accessed in pdf format at www.acss.org.uk/publication. Hard copies of the booklets may be requested from the Academy office.
