Elaine Howard Ecklund (pictured) is professor of sociology and director of The Religion and Public Life Program at Rice University. She launched the Network for the Social Scientific Study of Science and Religion (N4SR) in 2011. In addition, through a cooperative project with the American Association for the Advancement of Science Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion program, she will study how four different U.S. religious groups understand science. David R. Johnson, an associate professor in the College of Education & Human Development at Georgia State University, is a sociologist who studies work, science, and higher education. He is the author of A Fractured Profession: Commercialism and Conflict in Academic Science (2017), Secularity and Science: What Scientists Around the World Really Think About Religion (2019), and Varieties of Atheism in Science (2021).
