Michael Sanders is a Reader in Public Policy in the Policy Institute at King's College London, and Executive Director of the What Works Centre for Children's Social Care. He was previously the Chief Scientist and Director of Research at the Behavioural Insights Team, also known as the world's first nudge unit. In his academic and policy work he has conducted and overseen hundreds of randomised controlled trials, with his own research primarily focused on social and human capital, pro-social behaviour, and social mobility.
